Factors to Consider
May be custom built into a scooter or powered wheelchair so that the user does not have to remember to attach the device before use.
May be useful in a situation where the user does not have full control of the scooter or does not see a potential hazard.
May be used during scooter training.




Short Description
A battery powered remote device to disable a moving scooter. The device comes in two parts. One part is plugged into the charger port of the scooter. The other part has a button which is pressed to remotely disable the scooter. May also be used to disable powered wheelchairs. May be customised. May be permanently built into the scooter or wheelchair.

Range
Range of 100metres in a straight line.

Batteries
Battery operated device which uses one 9 volt battery.
The scooter stopper has a 'male' three pin connector. The scooter or powered wheelchair requires a 'female' three pin charger point.
Method of Use
To disable (stop) a scooter from a distance
Press the blue button labelled '1' to test that the battery is working
Plug the stopper into the charger port of the scooter.
The user is asked to drive the scooter.
To disable a scooter and bring it to a stop, press the blue button labelled '1'.
The scooter will stop.
Press the blue button once more to reset the scooter. The scooter stopper is now ready to use again.
