Factors to Consider
This is able to brake on uneven slopes so drum brakes are unlikely to be needed.
Powered reverse for those unable to reverse by pulling manually.
A mechanism is used to push the wheel onto the ground so it will retain traction on uneven ground.
This item should be trialled in the user's own environment to ensure maximum safety and independence. Environmental considerations include eg: kerbs, footpaths, tram and railway crossings, street crossings, etc.
Short Description
The Viamobil is a powered attendant control which can be placed on most standard manual wheelchairs. The drive component and battery pack is mounted underneath the seat of the wheelchair. The control device uses a lever and can be mounted on the left or right push handle at the rear of the wheelchair. It has the ability to brake when going downhill. A mechanism is used to push the wheel onto the ground to increase the traction. It can be dismantled from the wheelchair for transport.

Base
Drive wheel consists of solid rubber.
Able to be dismantled from the wheelchair using a locking pin. Batteries and wheelbase separate. The wheelbase has a carry handle.
Able to be placed on wheelchairs with a seat width starting at 360mm.

Batteries
Two maintenance free 12 volt and 12amp hr batteries are rechargeable.
Able to cover up to 20 kilometres in distance on a full charge dependent on the terrain and weight of the wheelchair occupant.

Hand control features battery display, on off switch, stepless speed selection, driving lever for speed control and a switch to select forward or reverse movement.
The drive wheel can be raised for manual propelling or lowered.
