Features
The restraint system has four points of attachment on the wheelchair : two at the front and two at the rear. The restraint secures the wheelchair to the vehicle. Should an insert be used in the wheelchair, separate insert restraint belts are required. This restraint system is to be used in conjunction with an occupant restraint belt whenever a person travels seated in the wheelchair. It is suited for use with all common makes of wheelchair. As the restraint system is comprised of webbing straps and locking devices, it is essential the restraint is placed in storage when not in use, as it can be damaged if run over by a wheelchair or walked on.

FLOOR ANCHOR POINTS - Floor tracking which is placed longitudinally. Able to be fitted above or recessed into the floor.

RESTRAINT OF WHEELCHAIR - Consists of four webbing straps, the front and back straps are adjustable. The front straps have cam buckles and the rear has over centre buckles. At one end of the strap is the locking device that clips in place on the tracking. The other end is a vinyl covered hook, which attaches to the wheelchair frame. Each strap has a buckle, which allows the strap to be adjusted in length and tensioned to secure the wheelchair.

RESTRAINT OF OCCUPANT - A choice of lap sash belts are available to be used to secure the wheelchair occupant in conjunction with the wheelchair restraint system. It attaches to the vehicle wall (wall mounting bracket required to be fitted) above the shoulder and to the tracking either side of the person.

Method Of Use
The following briefly describes how the restraint is to be fitted to the vehicle:
1. Wheel the wheelchair over the tracking, brakes off.

No restraint system is considered safe to use with the occupant of a scooter travelling while sitting in the scooter. The occupant must transfer to a normal vehicle seat for the journey.
As the restraint system is comprised of webbing straps and locking devices, it is essential the restraint is placed in storage when not in use, as it can be damaged if run over by a wheelchair or walked on.

Additional Comment
When purchasing a vehicle wheelchair restraint, consider also other vehicles in which the person may travel in their wheelchair (eg taxis, school bus etc.). This may influence the choice of restraint which is chosen for the family / individual's vehicle, as not all restraint fittings or modifications that are required on a wheelchair are compatible with all restraint systems. A video, which describes Q'Straint Restraint Systems for vehicles, is available for viewing at the Independent Living Centre of WA. This video is not for loan or sale.
