installed on the floor and wall of the vehicle (above shoulder height). The Double Inertia Reel comprises a single strap with an inertia reel at each end. It forms a lap and diagonal restraint, the belt retracts into the reel when not in use and this in turn can be stored. An adjustable strap clips onto the wall mounted tracking and then into the diagonal part of the Double Inertia Reel.

FLOOR ANCHOR POINTS - Three types of aluminium floor tracking is available. Two are recessed into the floor, the Heavy Duty Rail and Low Profile Rail. Surface Rail is fitted above the floor. (Surface Rail is recommended as the choice for the wall mounting, an adjustable strap is clipped into this.)The tracking is placed on the floor longitudinally. The Double Inertia Reel and the Stalk, with belt buckle are anchored to the floor tracking via clips.

RESTRAINT OF WHEELCHAIR - A choice of wheelchair restraints is available and are required to be used in conjunction with wheelchair occupant restraints. The wheelchair restraint is also anchored onto the floor tracking via clips.

RESTRAINT OF OCCUPANT - A lap sash belt, with three points of attachment : the Double Inertia Reel unit and the Stalk unit with the belt buckle point are anchored to the floor tracking behind the wheelchair and occupant. The adjustable strap which is clipped to the wall
mounted tracking above the occupants shoulder also attaches to the diagonal part of the Double Inertia Reel.

Method Of Use
1. Position and restrain the wheelchair.
2. Clip the double inertia reel unit and the seat belt buckle stalk into the floor tracking.
3. There are two clips on the belt. Pass the first one around the pelvis and fit into the floor mounted stalk. The second attaches to the wall mounted belt.
4. Adjust the length of the wall mounted belt to pass over the shoulder.

Caution
The webbing should be checked regularly for signs of wear or fraying. Nicks greater than 1mm necessitate replacement. The product must be replaced immediately after it has been worn during a collision. No restraint system is considered safe to use with the occupant of a scooter travelling while sitting in the scooter. The occupant must transfer to a normal vehicle seat for the journey.

Additional Comment
When purchasing a vehicle wheelchair restraint, consider also other vehicles in which the person may travel in their wheelchair (eg taxis, school bus etc.). This may influence the choice of restraint which is chosen for the family / individual's vehicle, as not all restraint fittings or modifications that are required on a wheelchair are compatible with all restraint systems.
