Short Description
A Grade Aid (ie gradient aid) is a mechanical device that prevents a
wheelchair from wheeling backwards down a gradient. It is a lever
operated attachment which fits the wheelchair brake mechanism on both rear wheels. When activated, the wheelchair can still move forwards but the wheels are locked soon after the wheelchair starts to reverse. The device can be flipped out of the way when not required so the chair can move freely in the forward and reverse directions.
