More Details
* Provides support for a hemiplegic arm. Is designed to help keep the persons shoulder in a protracted position, to reduce the risk of subluxation or other damage from decreased sensation or awareness.
* Can be adjusted daily to suit the user.
* Allows the person to keep the elbow slightly extended and the wrist and
hand in prone position.
* Care must be taken when putting arm in trough not to cause elbow abrasions.
* Care must be taken not to cause pressure on radial nerve.
* Limits wheelchair accessibility.

Design
* The trough is made of a thermoplastic material with a smooth surface.
* It is open at the front which is splayed to support the hand, has curved sides to support the arm and has an elbow support section
at the back.
* It is often necessary to line the surface with sheepskin or adhesive foam to provide extra protection for fragile skin.

Method of attachment
* The armrest padding is firstly removed from the armrest.
* The trough then screws directly onto the metal tubing by means of
two wingnuts.
* The trough has two sliding bracket adjustments which allow it to be
moved and secured along the armrest to the desired position.
