More Details
This range of wheelchairs can be ordered as rear wheel drive, front wheel drive, one arm drive, attendant propelled, or set into an extended rear axle position for an amputee.
FRAME: aluminium frame with a single folding crossmember that is strengthened to act as a double crossmember. A third crossbrace can be added for even greater strength. A range of epoxy coated frame colours are available.
UPHOLSTERY is slung synthetic fabric, water and stretch resistant. The backrest has foam padding.
REAR WHEELS are available in diameters of 300mm, 500mm, 560mm, 610mm or 660mm and with an option of fixed or quick release axles with wheels and rims in aluminium or stainless steel.
. Standard model has a multi-axle adjustable mounting plate, enabling
variation in wheel position in both horizontal and vertical planes.
FRONT CASTORS in diameters 80mm to 200mm are solid rubber, microcellular or pneumatic. front castor fork housings are adjustable into specific positions in both the horizontal and vertical planes to allow the wheelchair's balance and seating angle to be altered to suit the individual.
ARMRESTS are removable, full or desk length or pole style with moulded rests.
FOOTPLATES are swingaway, height adjustable and removable. Fixed with lift up footplates; or removable bar style.
BRAKES are available as high or low mounted lever style.

The seat width, depth, height and backrest height are all made to measure to suit the individual.

Glide 2 Cadet 500mm rear wheels, lowered, 380mm seat width with swing away legrests.

Factors To Consider
Wheelchair Restraints
When transporting a person in a wheelchair in a car or van, both the occupant and the wheelchair require an RTA approved restraint system. The wheelchair and the occupant need to be separately secured to the vehicle itself.
RTA approval is not required for a postural support, such as a harness, that supports the user in the wheelchair but is not part of the vehicle restraint system.
The use of a headrest is not legally required but strongly recommended. Easily detachable, folding headrests which fit a wheelchair with standard push handles are available. Refer to section Wheelchair, Scooter, Cushions, ramps / Postural Supports - Seating System: Restraint+ Head+Back+Seats
