Bodypoint Sub-ASIS Pads and Compatible Belt
ILC Reference NO 41:45:001
Item sourced from ILC WA database
Factors to Consider
A 60° angle of attachment to the seat, positions the hip belt anterior and inferior to the ASIS, which reduces the tendency of the client with a posterior pelvic tilt to slip underneath the belt.
A higher angle of attachment on the back post encourages a posterior pelvic tilt, which assists in positioning clients with an anterior pelvic tilt.
The secondary straps of a four-point hip belt are attached to the seat post between 45° and 90° to hold the primary padded strap in place and to prevent the belt from riding into the abdomen or twisting.
The angle of attachment may have to be compromised in order to accommodate such situations as wounds in the pelvic area, unstable hip joints or gastric tubes.
Selecting hip belts:
For Bodypoint hip belts: measure hip width across the greater trochanter's with the person seated. If the hip width falls between sizes , consider other factors such as growth, weight changes, and clothing.
Short Description
This product consists of the sub-anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) pads combined with a velcro compatible belt. The sub-ASIS pads provide two firm points of contact with the pelvis, assisting with stability and control of pelvic obliquity and rotation. The gel filled pad design spaces the belt away from the abdomen, reducing pressure on the bladder.

More Details
The molded gel-filled pad construction is designed to offer firm support. The teardrop-shaped pads are filled with SynerGel dynamic flotation polymer to comfortably space the belt away from the abdomen, reducing pressure on the bladder. The pads are shaped to fit the superior-ASIS notch of the pelvis to provide stability while minimizing compression. The velcro belt attachment allows precise placement of sub-ASIS pads for the individual user.
The velcro compatible belts are available in two or four point belt styles.
The two point velcro compatible belt is available in two sizes: medium (available with metal push button style buckle or rehab latch buckle) or large (available with rehab latch style buckle only).
The four point velcro compatible belt is available in three sizes: small (available with extra small metal push button buckles or side release dual pull buckle), medium (available with metal push button buckle or rehab latch style buckle) and large (available with metal push button buckle or rehab latch style buckle). The metal push button buckle and extra small metal push button buckles are available with a optional buckle security covers.

Installation
Attaching to the frame
The Cinch-Mount end-fittings provide a quick adjust method for achieving precise adjustments when fitting the belt to the wheelchair. They can be used in conjunction with frame saver clamps to allow a wide variety of suitable mounting locations to be created. Proper mounting can also extend the life of the belt and improve its pressure distribution.
Mount the belt to the wheelchair frame as close to the pelvis as possible.
Consider interference with any other devices and wheelchair mechanics.
Angles of attachment
The angle that the hip belt is attached to the wheelchair has a direct effect on the angle of pull on the pelvis.
