There is exciting news about ILC Victoria's decision in adopting the Products Database used by all other ILCs.The software customisation project has commenced. When Victoria's database is converted to the new structures, the ease of data sharing and cost sharing amongst ILCs will provide most welcoming benefits to all stakeholders.
Information in the product database on this website are updated regularly by Independent Living Centre at ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, TAS and WA.
If you require advice or assistance in choosing relevant products for your needs, please call our national ILC Infoline number 1300 885 886. You will be connected to your local state/territory ILC for the cost of a local phone call. ** NT callers are automatically directed to ILC at SA.

The ILC Directors had their annual face-to-face meeting in Canberra in early June. The meeting enables the Group to discuss shared responsibilities and make action plans for ILCA in the coming year. It also provides a good opportunity to meet local staff and compare notes of each other's showroom display.May 2008
In January 2008, ILCA members formed an advisory committee to discuss the website development options. The Committee's objective was to provide ILCA management with recommendations for continual website improvements; reflecting the evolution of ILCA and its activities to stakeholders.After two teleconferences in February, the Committee produced a report for ILCA management to consider the preferred option and a draft budget for future web development. Recommendations from the report and budgetary commitments will be discussed in details by the ILC Directors at their annual meeting later in the year.

Another exciting milestone has been reached for ILCA in November 2007. We have implemented a data sharing function across the local ILC databases. Information Managers now have the tools to import/export item write-ups between product databases.October 2007

Since the successful implementation of the products database and software at local level, LifeTec Queensland is currently working towards the uploading of suppliers and products information to the ILCA website.One of the Major Categories in the Product Search has been modified to improve user-friendliness. The group "ORGANISATIONS & RESOURCES" is now called "HIRE, ORGANISATIONS & RESOURCES". It highlights the category where the list of Hire companies is located.
Please note that the Major group names are arranged alphabetically, therefore the location of the renamed group has been changed on the list.

All seven members of Independent Living Centres Australia attended the annual meeting in Sydney in early June. High on this year’s agenda was the future of ILCs in Australia and their role in promoting the role of assistive technology. It’s paramount for ILC to consider the varied influences on community service organisations as well as those involved in assistive technology, to keep in pace with technological advances in product designs and innovations, to ensure ILC to remain relevant to the community.April 2006
The Independent Living Centre Association of Queensland Inc. has recently launched a new name for the organisation to coincide with changes in structure and relocation to Reading Newmarket. ‘LifeTec Queensland’ was born. LifeTec Queensland is still an active member of the Independent Living Centres Association of Australia.March 2006
ILC Queensland have recently changed its name to 'LifeTec' after a market branding exercise last year, to avoid sharing the name "Independent Living" with more than 350 organisations.January 2006

The national ILC website www.ilcaustralia.org has recently been launched by Hon. J Weatherill, Minister for Disability and is sponsored by Telstra.The website acts as a gateway to all ILCs website and allows the public to search for equipment information from NSW, VIC, SA, QLD, TAS, WA, and ACT.
The new national ILC phone number 1300 885 886 enables all callers to contact their local state/territory ILC for a cost of a local phone call. (NT callers are directed to SA).
June 2005 - ILCA Annual Conference
Every year around winter, the ILC Directors & Information Managers will meet face-to-face at one of the capital cities around Australia.The meeting usually lasts for 3 days for all parties to review tasks, exchange information & make short & long term plans for the future.
The objective is to have:
- cohesive, co-ordinated apprioach
- comprehensive and achievabel plan of action
- commitment to a national vision which supports state differences
This year, the conference was held in Adelaide in early June. It coincided with the public launch of the new website for national ILC.
February 2005 - Data Uploads to NDB
Most ILCs have completed the full data upload to National Database (NDB) in late February.January 2005 - News update for ILCA
All ILCs have established the VPN connection to Neonet & have tested the upload successfully.ILCSA has completed the full data upload to National Database (NDB).
During the IM teleconferencing in January, all IMs agree to have the local database uploaded to NDB by end of February 2005.
