Assistive Equipment Program:
Visitors to the Independent Living Centre are able to see and trial a wide range of equipment that can assist with some tasks at home, school, work or in the community. Advice and assistance is available from one of the ILC’s Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. The Equipment Display provides thousands of actual equipment items for trial in simulated settings. With advice from ILC’s health professionals, an informed choice about assistive equipment can be made.

Country Services:
The Mobile Information and Display Unit travels statewide to extend the services of the Perth based Independent Living Centre to people in rural and remote communities. The Independent Living Centre also uses Videoconferencing technology with video cameras and microphones to transmit images and sound between two or more locations to reach remote locations. This allows for real-time exchange of information and communication between two or more sites.

ILC Hire Service:
ILC Hire is an equipment hire service that specialises in reasonably priced short-term hire of equipment for people with disabilities throughout the State. It aims:
- to provide an opportunity to trial equipment before purchase
- to ensure that the users and carers needs are met, and that the equipment suits the environments in which it will be used
- to assist people whose rapidly changing needs make equipment purchase impractical
- to meet short term needs such as post surgery
- to allow people access to equipment whilst their own equipment is being repaired or delivered

Assistive Technology Service:
The Technology Service provides information, advice and training on specialised computer and communication equipment for people of all ages. There is a wide range of adaptive technology, software, hardware, communication devices and environmental control systems on display. Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists can assist people with the following areas:
- Alternative methods of accessing their computer
- Specialised educational, language and literacy software
- Environmental controls
- Augmentative and alternative communication options

Education & Training:
The Independent Living Centre of WA (Inc) offers training sessions to people working in the health, community care, disability, government and private sectors. Training programmes have an emphasis on practical skills and can be customised to suit the specific needs of an individual or group. Modules can be undertaken either at the ILC premises or the client’s own location. The Training Service Includes:
- Manual Handling Training
- Standard workshop programme
- Customised workshop programme
- Training needs analysis
- Videoconferencing

Vocational Equipment Consultancy:
The Vocational Equipment Consultancy provides a professional risk assessment service for clients and employers with issues relating to appropriate equipment in the workplace, study or home-use purposes.

Lotterywest Disability Equipment Grants:
The Disability Equipment Grants program is fully funded by Lotterywest and assists individuals with permanent disabilities obtain specific items of equipment they would not otherwise be able to afford. Not for profit community organisations apply for funds on behalf of individuals with disabilities.

Commonwealth Carelink Centre:
The Commonwealth Carelink Centres act as a guide to the wide range of services available in the Community Care system and provide a single point of contact with calls being answered by a “real” person with local knowledge - call FREECALL™ 1800 052 222.
The service expand links with the general public, GP’s, Carers, service providers and local regional community networks and empowers the user of community care to make informed choices by providing information on a range of services.
